Five shops on Chapel Lane in Wilmslow. I walk past them most days. Sometimes I use them. Mostly I don't see them at all.
There are more shops on the lane than this. These are the ones that caught my eye on the day, and I'll admit that is the entire selection process. A mini market. A delicatessen. A barber's. A second small shop selling much the same as the first. And a pizza place, freshly stripped out and closed, the unit bare behind the dirty glass.
That last one is the reason for the other four. Shopfronts are the fastest layer of a street to change and the last to be recorded. By the time anyone photographs one it's closing, and it's already too late. So these were taken on an ordinary day when nothing was happening. Nothing happened on Chapel Lane on 26 July 2026. Here's the proof.
